What is Own Risk?

Hi, Sahabat! If you have vehicle insurance, you must recognize some insurance terms so as not to get confused.

When purchasing a vehicle insurance product, you will be introduced to the term Own Risk (OR). Own risk can be interpreted as payment of compensation costs made by the vehicle owner or the insured for any loss and or damage that occurs when submitting a claim. If you do this, it means that you already know your responsibilities as a vehicle owner. As a form of your sense of responsibility to always be careful when driving. The standard, in accordance with OJK Letter No. 6 of 2017 stipulates that the current OR fee is a minimum of IDR 300,000 per incident.

Please note, standard car insurance policies actually only cover loss or damage caused by accident, collision, impact, overturning, slipping, or falling; evil deeds; theft; as well as fire and all risks covered by the motor vehicle insurance policy. However, if due to a disaster caused by natural disasters such as rain, flood, tsunami, hurricane, hail, tsunami, a product is provided in the form of an extension to protect your car from the causes mentioned above.

To make payments, payment must be made only to the PT Asuransi Sahabat Artha Proteksi (Sahabat Insurance) bank account number.

Customers will be referred to their own Virtual Accounts. A Virtual Account consists of a unique customer ID number (please find it on your Sahabat Insurance’ premium note).

Therefore, please avoid attempting to transact other than Sahabat Insurance bank account number, as it may lead to cancellation policy.

What Is an Insurance Policy Period?

An insurance policy period is the time frame during which an insurance policy is effective. Based on chapter IV, article 7 in INDONESIAN MOTOR VEHICLE INSURANCE STANDARD POLICY, it is a condition precedent to liability under this policy, that any premium payable shall have been paid off and actually received in full by the Insurer, in the event of:

insurance period of 30 (thirty) days or more, then settlement of premium payment shall be conducted within a period of 14 (fourteen) calendar days as of the date of inception of this Policy;

such insurance period is less than 30 (thirty) days, settlement of premium payment shall be conducted at the time of issuance of Policy.

In case the Insured fails to fulfill the liabilities as referred to in paragraph above, this Policy shall be automatically terminated without issuing cancellation endorsement starting from the expiry of the grace period and the Insurer shall be discharged from any liability there from.
